Hyderabad, April 15 -- The Telangana government has commenced the process of crediting the discount on cooking gas cylinders under the Mahalakshmi scheme to consumers' bank accounts. A statement released by the Civil Supplies Department indicates that 18 lakh 86 thousand individuals across the state have already benefited from the scheme, availing themselves of the discounted gas cylinder at Rs 500.
As of April 13, some consumers have also received a discount for a second cylinder. A total subsidy amounting to Rs. 59.97 crore has been disbursed to 21.29 beneficiaries. Across the state, 39.33 lakh gas consumers are eligible to receive each cylinder for Rs. 500.
