India, April 22 -- Two University of Washington researchers have been named AAAS Fellows, according to an April 18 announcement by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. They are among 502 newly elected fellows from around the world, who are recognized for their "scientifically and socially distinguished achievements" in science and engineering.

A tradition dating back to 1874, election as an AAAS Fellow is a lifetime honor, and all fellows are expected to meet the commonly held standards of professional ethics and scientific integrity.
