KANGPOKPI, Jan. 25 -- Chiefs of Kangpokpi have decided to impose a 24-hour bandh within Kangpokpi, Champhai and T. Waichong block in Kangpokpi District from 6:00 pm of January 28 to 6:00 pm of January 29 in protest against the release of negligible funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The decision to impose the proposed 24 hour bandh came after a lengthy discussion over the alleged negligible release of MGNREGS wages under Kangpokpi, Champhai and Tujang Waichong Block at the joint meeting of Kangpokpi Block Chiefs' Association (KBCA) and Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC) held this afternoon at the office of KTC.
