113-year-old steam loco chugs on Kalka-Shimla line
Chandigarh, Feb. 16 -- As a part of the monthlong heritage events being celebrated by the Indian Railways, the Ambala division ran a 113-year-old KC 520 steam locomotive to ferry schoolchildren between Shimla and Kaithlighat on the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla rail section on Friday. Commissioned in 1906 and working on superheated steam since 1956, the KC-520 steam loco was withdrawn from service in 1971, and restored in 2001....
