Parliament passes Lokpal amendment bill

New Delhi, July 29 -- A bill to amend the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, 2013, was passed by parliament on Thursday doing away with the time limit for public servants to furnish details of their assets and liabilities, which as per the original act was July 31 every year.

The Lokpal and Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2016, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, was passed by the upper house on Thursday.

Major natural gas reserve found in Indian Ocean: USGS

Sri Lanka, July 26 -- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says it has assisted the Government of India in the discovery of large, highly enriched accumulations of natural gas hydrate in the Bay of Bengal.

Recruitment of 7,500 tax officers: Nigerian govt. begins training of pilot set

Nigeria, June 24 -- The Nigerian government says it has commenced training of unemployed graduates recruited as Community Tax Liaison Officers to boost tax revenue generation.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who revealed this on Friday said 27 Nigerians were being trained as a pilot set for the programme.

Manhunt on for 18 ATM bombing suspects

Midrand, June 24 -- Limpopo police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said police are following leads on 18 suspects that bombed an ATM in Twin City shopping complex Burgersfort on Friday.
