Major natural gas reserve found in Indian Ocean: USGS

Sri Lanka, July 26 -- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says it has assisted the Government of India in the discovery of large, highly enriched accumulations of natural gas hydrate in the Bay of Bengal.

"Advances like the Bay of Bengal discovery will help unlock the global energy resource potential of gas hydrates as well help define the technology needed to safely produce them," said Walter Guidroz, USGS Energy Resources Program coordinator.

CBE loans 40 Bln Birr for dev't projects in half-year

Addis Ababa, Feb. 21 -- The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) said that it has provided over 40 billion birr loan for various development projects during the past six months.

In a press release it dispatched to ENA, the bank said the loan disbursed was obtained from deposits mobilized and loans recovered this Ethiopian fiscal year.

CBE has recovered 28.2 billion birr loan during the stated period, it added.
