Physical training teacher held for beating students

Gurgaon, Aug. 22 -- A teacher accused of beating a student in a Gurgaon school was arrested on Monday and sent to judicial custody. The accused teacher, a physical training instructor, had allegedly beaten class 7 students of Sheetla Vidyapeeth at Jyoti Park on Saturday. BIKERS SNATCH WOMAN'S PURSE IN BATALA

Batala, Aug. 22 -- Two unidentified bikeborne accused reportedly snatched a purse from a woman near Baring Union Christian College on Monday.

The purse contained 30,000, pair of gold earrings and mobile phone. In her complaint, the victim, Gursharan Singh, of Greater Kailash said that she was going to bus stand on a rickshaw.

Debt-ridden farmer kills himself in Mansa

Mansa, Aug. 22 -- Unable to pay the debt of around Rs 4.5 lakh, a farmer Ramanjeet Singh (27) from Kheeva Dyalu village ended his life by consuming pesticide. He owned four acres. Ramanjeet was struggling to bear the treatment expense of his handicapped son. MC meet to consider trust vote cancelled

Muktsar, Aug. 22 -- With seven councillors who had moved a no-confidence motion against Muktsar municipal council chief Harpal Singh Bedi withdrawing their application, deputy commissioner Sumeet Jarangal cancelled a House meeting on Monday. 33-yr-old man booked for wife's murder

Muktsar, Aug. 22 -- Police have booked Sukhmander Singh (33) for shooting dead his wife, Gurjeet Kaur (30), with his licenced gun at Dhoolkot village in Muktsar on Monday. "Marital discord led to the murder," said ASI Baj Singh, adding that Sukhmander, who was absconding, had been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and Sections 27/54/59 of the Arms Act. The couple had a sevenyear-old son and nine-monthold daughter.
