Mumbai, March 11 -- Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of pioneering atomic-weapons scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, while Christopher Nolan also received an Oscar for directing the epic biopic, which garnered nominations in 13 categories this year.

Murphy triumphed over a formidable lineup for the Oscar, surpassing contenders like Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers, Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction, and Bradley Cooper for Maestro. This marked Murphy's inaugural Oscar nomination.
